Considering Lip Lift in Ireland?

During your consultation, I will address any questions or concerns you may have.

What is Lip Lift?

A lip lift is a surgical procedure that shortens the distance between the nose and the upper lip, enhancing lip definition and overall facial aesthetics. This outpatient procedure is performed to improve the appearance of the upper lip

How lip lift is done:

The surgeon makes an incision, usually hidden along the base of the nose, and removes a small strip of skin to shorten the distance between the nose and upper lip. The upper lip is then lifted and sutured into place, creating a fuller, more youthful appearance by exposing more of the pink part of the lip and increasing tooth show when smiling.

You should consider Lip Lift if:

  • Your upper lip is thin or long due to genetics or aging. You want more visible teeth when smiling.
  • You desire a permanent alternative to lip fillers.
  • You’re looking to enhance overall facial harmony.
  • You have prolonged distance between nose and upper lip due to genetics or aging.

Recovery and post care after the lip lift

Recovery from a lip lift is a relatively quick process:

For a few days: you should be resting, after that you can return to light activities and work.
After 3-4 weeks: Incisions are healed. Although the scar is visible for some time and fades with time from 6-12 months after that final results become apparent.

Frequently asked questions

As a plastic surgeon, here’s my advice for post-op care after a lip lift:

  1. Keep head elevated to reduce swelling
  2. Apply antibiotic ointment as directed
  3. Eat soft foods and stay hydrated
  4. Avoid excessive facial movements for a week
  5. Refrain from strenuous activities for 3 weeks
  6. Protect incision from sun exposure
  7. Attend all follow-up appointments
  8. Avoid pulling or stretching the lip area

Always follow your surgeon’s specific instructions for optimal healing.

A lip lift provides a permanent solution and addresses lip positioning, while fillers temporarily add volume but don’t change lip position.

  1. Visible scarring
  2. Prolonged swelling and bruising
  3. Asymmetry
  4. Infection (rare if proper care is followed)
  5. Temporary numbness or altered sensation
  6. Over- or under-correction
  7. Temporary difficulty fully closing the mouth
  8. Slight changes in smile or facial expressions

Most of these issues are temporary or can be addressed with proper care and follow-up treatments. Serious complications are rare when the procedure is performed by a board-certified plastic surgeon.

Pain is generally mild and manageable with prescribed medication. Most discomfort occurs in the first few days post-surgery.

Lip lift results are long-lasting, often permanent.

There will be a scar at the base of the nose, but it’s typically well-hidden and tends to fade over time with proper care.

Ideal candidates have a longer philtrum (area from nose to lip) over 15mm, who have small upper lip, desire more tooth show when smiling.

The price of a Lip Lift in Ireland can vary based on the specific technique, surgeon, the complexity of the procedure. During your consultation, we’ll go over your aesthetic goals, the best surgical approach for you, and provide a cost of a surgery.
